Love Never Fails: Sharing Christ’s love in the Red Light District
Love Never Fails ministers in Cherkos, the red-light district of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Frew is a medical doctor who screens and treats the HIV/AIDS virus. During his time with patients, Dr. Frew teaches of the love of Christ that never fails and never lets go. Love Never Fails works with women who are enslaved in lives of prostitution. Needing to service four customers a day just to pay the debt of their rented room, which is a 6×8 foot metal shack with a dirt floor. Love Never Fails helps to free these women by training them in sustainable skills like running food carts or baking and selling in the marketplace. They also provide start-up capital to begin their businesses.

Through tireless home visits, Love Never Fails builds relationships with women trapped in prostitution, showing them the unconditional love of Jesus. Many of these women have come to faith, finding new life in Christ. One woman shared, “Now I can see. I see the light!” as she testified to the dramatic change in her life.
At Oakseed, we have been rejoicing and praising our great and powerful God this year as he has rescued many women from both physical and spiritual slavery. In September, Frew shared pictures from baptisms at his church that included two women saved out of prostitution.
Love Never Fails also cares for people living with HIV/AIDS, providing medical treatment, nutritional support, and the comfort of Christ. Dr. Frew recounts how one HIV patient came to him, not seeking medical help, but asking “I want to follow the God you worship. Will you please tell me about him?” This man went on to become an evangelist in his local church.
