Love Link: Nourishing Bodies, Nourishing Souls

Love Link (Vínculo de Amor) is a remarkable ministry in El Salvador that has been transforming the lives of severely malnourished infants and children for over 35 years. Founded in 1987 by an American couple, Sam and Julie Hawkins, Love Link has cared for over 3,500 babies who would have otherwise faced a grim fate due to malnutrition.

Poverty and lack of education on proper infant feeding are the primary factors contributing to the high rates of infant mortality and malnutrition in El Salvador. Many families simply cannot afford the nutritious foods needed to keep their babies healthy, and the lack of knowledge on breastfeeding and supplementary feeding leads to devastating consequences. This is where Love Link steps in, providing 24-hour care and rehabilitation for the most critically malnourished infants.

At their “baby house,” Love Link’s dedicated staff of doctors, nurses, and caregivers work tirelessly to restore these precious children to health. Through specialized nutrition, medical treatment, and loving care, babies who were once on the brink of death are brought back to vibrant life. But Love Link’s ministry extends beyond just physical healing – they also share the love and hope of Jesus Christ with the families, leading many to faith in the process.
