Hannah House Family: Uplifting Burundi’s orphans and widows with the gospel

Hannah House Family (HHF) is a gospel-centered ministry that is transforming the lives of vulnerable orphans, widows, and at-risk women in Burundi. With a deep compassion for the least, lost, and forgotten, HHF is a beacon of hope in a country plagued by poverty, conflict, and despair.

At the heart of HHF’s work is a small but vibrant orphanage that provides a loving home for 19 children who have lost their parents. These precious boys and girls receive not only food, shelter, and education, but also the life-changing love of Christ that heals their wounded hearts. Through discipleship, counseling, and a nurturing family environment, the children at Hannah House are finding restoration, purpose, and a future.

Beyond the orphanage, HHF reaches out to widows in the surrounding communities – many of whom are disabled, refugees, or persecuted for their faith. Through a 6-month sewing program called “Women Stand Up”, these marginalized women are learning valuable vocational skills that enable them to start small businesses and provide for their families with dignity. As they are trained, they also encounter the transformative love of Jesus that meets their deepest needs.

HHF also invests in the next generation through its youth clubs and back-to-school programs. Hundreds of vulnerable children have been equipped with school supplies, uniforms, and the life-giving message of the gospel, equipping them to break the cycle of poverty and become leaders who will transform their communities.
