1Hope4Africa is a Christ-centered ministry based in Pretoria, South Africa that is dedicated to caring for orphaned and abandoned children. Driven by the belief that “compassion takes action,” this remarkable organization operates two baby homes that provide a safe, nurturing environment for infants and toddlers in desperate need.
Established in 2011, 1Hope4Africa was birthed out of a local church’s Bible study and outreach efforts in the Sunnyside community of Pretoria. Founders Andre and Karlien de Wit, along with a passionate team, recognized the overwhelming orphan crisis in South Africa and felt called to establish a ministry that would tangibly demonstrate God’s love to the most vulnerable.
Today, 1Hope4Africa’s two baby homes care for nearly 18 babies at a time who have been abandoned or orphaned. The homes are equipped with nurseries, play areas, and outdoor spaces designed to meet the unique needs of these precious little ones. Dedicated house parents and volunteers provide around-the-clock care, ensuring the babies receive the love, attention, and medical care they require.
But 1Hope’s impact extends beyond the walls of the baby homes. The ministry also operates a Bible Training Center that partners with local churches to provide biblical education and discipleship to a wide range of people.
