Ministry Update: Bangladesh Hope (Bangladesh)

Bangladesh is a South Asian country with a population of over 165 million people, making it one of the most densely populated nations in the world. Tragically, it is also considered an “unreached” people group when it comes to Christianity, with only about 0.2% of the population identifying as Christian, and the vast majority being Muslim.

Bangladesh Hope is dedicated to proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to the people of Bangladesh, looking to see them transformed by the power and hope of the gospel, and it has grown from humble beginnings into a vibrant movement of church planting, discipleship, and mercy ministry.

Testimonies

Two testimonies highlight the importance of Bangladesh Hope’s outreach efforts, as every prayer, visit, Bible, and partnership can change lives for eternity.

“Before, I did not know about Jesus, but I felt emptiness and needed true peace. Through a Bangladesh Hope Church revival meeting, I heard the gospel, believed in Jesus, and was baptized in the River with others. Now, even though I face some challenges from villagers, I have joy, peace, and hope in Christ.”

Another young believer recently shared:

“Before I accepted Jesus, I had no real hope for my future. Through the ministry of Bangladesh Hope Church, I learned about Christ, received a Bible, and began growing in my faith. Now I have peace, purpose, and a desire to tell others about Jesus.”

Cell Groups and Discipleship

Over the past couple of months, over 2,000 people heard the gospel through Bangladesh Hope, and 50 to 52 active cell groups continued to meet across Northern, Southern, and Eastern Bangladesh. New believers continued discipleship and Bible study, and one new believer was baptized.

Bangladesh Hope’s director shares that, “Our vision is not simply to see people come to Christ, but to help them become mature disciples who will disciple others.” To that purpose, pastors and evangelists continued regular follow-up visits with newly baptized believers over the summer. Bible teaching, prayer, family visitation, and discipleship remain central to Bangladesh Hope’s ministry, and cell groups continue to be one of the most effective ministries for evangelism, discipleship, leadership development, and future church planting.

How to Pray for Bangladesh Hope

  • Pray for pastors, evangelists, and workers to be used powerfully by God. Pray for the Lord to give them wisdom, protection, and strength.
  • Pray for believers to grow spiritually and remain faithful, and pray for new believers to grow into mature disciples.
  • Pray for more people to hear the gospel and more churches to be planted, especially in unreached communities.
