Circle of Friends

“I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” - Matthew 25:40

SACDEM: Christian Assistance Service for the Incarcerated and Mentally Ill - Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Daniel and Marie Elena Ruffinatti are the directors of SACDEM which they began in 1984.

In a large mental hospital in Buenos Aries, Argentina there are thirteen hundred men and twenty women. Some of these men and women have been there for over fifty years. Ninety-five percent have no family or their families abandoned them long ago. Only twenty percent have the capacity to interact.

As a Friend, you commit to the following:

  1. PRAY daily for your friend and the ministry worker that visits him/her faithfully in the hospital.
  2. WRITE a brief letter or postcard quarterly. Send a birthday card and Christmas card annually. (Sent to the Oakseed office it will be translated into Spanish and emailed to the ministry worker.)
  3. GIVE the amount of $15 per month to support the ministry worker.

Will you help make this possible by becoming a part of the Circle of Friends?

SACDEM is a ministry that seeks to share the love of Jesus with these men and women. They have been doing this for 15 years. More and more are asking for help. SACDEM needs more staff and spiritual support.

Letter from Directors

Dear Brethern,

There are about 1300 men and 20 women at the Borda Hospital in Buenos Aires. As time went by, we discovered that perhaps this place is more a warehouse than a mental hospital since 95% of the patients have been abandoned by their families.

Friends, we really love these people. Our team spends long hours visiting, befriending, and caring for these patients. Every two weeks we take fifty patients out of the hospital for an all day mini-retreat.

We ask you to take this piece of information into account. We know that as long as we are true to the task, we will be able to bring blessing to these men and women in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We must be faithful in our commitment; otherwise they will surely be abandoned again.

Thanks for opening your heart to those who are suffering and abandoned.

We welcome your prayers and financial support. May the Lord guide your steps as you prayerfully consider becoming a part of the Circle of Friends.

Sincerely,Daniel and Marie Elena RuffinattiCo-Directors/FoundersSACDEM
