Essay Contest Update

I thought I would take a quick moment to update everyone on the 2008 Essay Contest.

  • We received 3 times the number of essays we were expecting.
  • 2/3 of those essays were sent in the final 24-36 hours.
  • The top countries submitting essays:
    1. USA
    2. India
    3. Nigeria
    4. Philippines
    5. Canada
  • The top states submitting essays:
    1. California
    2. Texas
    3. New York
    4. Illinois
    5. Ohio
  • The top submitting city in the US was: Palo Alto, CA
  • We received essays submitted from over 67 countries and states
  • All the essays are now out with the first round judges

Thank you all once again for spending time thinking and writing your essays.

    Who will the finalist knew that they won?

    If you are asking WHEN the winning essays will be announced, then the answer will be at the end of this month.

    Currently the most of the essays are finished with the first round of judging and the second round of judging is about to begin.

    Will the winners receive a phone call on 1st june or some e-mail…or will they get to know about it through the website…

    We all are very excited for the results..

    Kristy,

    Our goal is to be able to announce the winners on June 1st. Currently we are in the final round of judging. (The first and second round of judging finished just finished.)

    We will be contacting the winners (because some legal forms need to be filled out), and we will also be announcing the winners on the website.

    If you haven’t heard by June 1st. This does NOT mean you haven’t won anything. It might mean we are still working on the final judging scores. Check back with the website to get the lastest information.

    Yes… I know everyone is so excited to hear the results. I hope to have a big announcement tomorrow (Wednesday). It’s been a busy day yesterday and today. (I had to have some minor surgery.) This has been an amazing essay contest and many of the finals judges were reading the finalists late into the night over the weekend because they thought the essays were excellent.

    There’s a chance I might be able to make some sort of an announcement later today.. but it will probably be tomorrow.
