About Us

Our Roots

Oakseed Ministries International was launched in 1992 by Dr. Ed Bradley, an extraordinary pioneer, visionary, and strategist in how the Good News of Jesus Christ can transform and liberate every aspect of the lives of the poorest people on earth. In January of 2012, we mourned and celebrated as Ed fell asleep in the Lord. His legacy lives on in the work of Oakseed and with Donna Bradley, his wife and co-laborer in the Vineyard, and his daughters, sons, and grandchildren. In August of 2012, Charlie Jarvis, who knew Ed for a number of years, was called to carry on the wonderful mission of Oakseed.

Mission Statement

Oakseed assists local ministries that serve the abandoned children and the poor living in the megacities of the world by bringing the Good News of Jesus in word and deed. Oakseed is called to serve the church through:

EDUCATING about the needs of abandoned children and the urban poor in the megacities and introducing the church to God’s servants who work among them.
ENCOURAGING partnerships between indigenous ministries in megacities and the church world-wide through project and prayer support.
INVITING Christians to pray for the untouched people groups of urban megacities through participation in intercessory prayer networks.

What Oakseed Ministries International Does…

Oakseed Ministries International currently supports the ministries that it is working alongside through:

Mentoring – To teach and encourage nationals who are committed to taking the good news of Jesus Christ to the urban poor in the Developing World.

Consulting – To apply international expertise in advising and assisting nationals as they find creative ways to attack urban problems that plague the poor.

Training – To advance Biblical training as both the basis and principle for urban ministry development and implementation.

Ministry Information – To assist nationals in their goal to establish self-supporting indigenous urban missions.

Restoration – To redeem and restore the lives of society’s castoffs in the megacities through the love of Jesus Christ and by the power of the Spirit.

Proclamation – To declare God’s love for the poor verbally and physically and to exhort the Church to embrace the vision of Isaiah 61:3.

Charlie Jarvis, President

Charlie Jarvis brings extensive experience from the business, nonprofit, and public administration sectors. He served as Executive Vice President of Focus on the Family. Additionally, he served as a Senior Executive in the administrations of two U.S. Presidents, a U.S. Senator, and a Fortune 100 firm. Charlie brings a lifetime of focus on finding ways to break the cycle of poverty through applied biblical principles, such as ministries that live out Truth, faith, love, and mercy coupled with dynamic, ethical private business enterprises. He believes the proverb, “Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime.”

One of Charlie’s life verses is, “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8, NIV)
